The Process of Batik Fabric Making
Ebuku Threads fabrics are made using a technique known as batik. Batik is a "resist" process for making designs on fabric. Our artisans use wax on the fabric to prevent dye from penetrating the fabric, and once dyed "blank" areas are left and the rest of the fabric is dyed. The wax is drawn onto the fabric with a sponge. The wax dries quickly leaving the fabric ready for the dying process. The fabric is dyed in a dye bath. The wax is then melted off to show the pattern. The fabric is hung to dry before...
